![]() Just like buying new monitors requires the engineer to acclimate themselves to the new sound, leaving your bedroom and going to a studio requires a new ear. At the end of the day I’m making music for others to listen to so I stuck with it and eventually got over the bias I had just because I was use to it.Īll this isn’t to say you’re wrong or anything, but just get feedback from others about what they think is better because you’re not making music to release to yourself, it’s for other to enjoy and experience.ĭisclaimer: I have always done my own recordings and don’t think I’ll ever use a studio lol. But the thing that was actually important was that other people PREFERRED the way my voice sounded with the new mic, saying it was more clear and clean. After years of hearing my voice on that, I got a audio technica at2020 and HATED the way my voice sounded. For instance, I recorded myself for a long time on a rode podcaster mic. Have you played the studio version and your version back to back as a blind test to people who haven’t heard them and seen if they feel the same?īecause we get used to how we expect ourselves to sound. I’m going ask something that is meant to really just be a question and nothing else. You don't NEED a studio, just start creating! I post this because maybe it is encouraging for those who don't have the money to even try renting a studio! A studio CAN be good, no doubt but I finally realize after $800 spent that creating music in my room is better (for me) and will save me so much money as a bonus! As always, I am not saying I know everything about music - sharing my experiences for those "Bedroom" musicians out there as I would have loved to hear this 1 year ago! I think from now on I will just stick to recording in my bedroom. I think the key benefit is that in my bedroom also I get to have unlimited takes, listen a lot in between on my own and fix things - in the studio even when you have 4 hours it flys by and you end up not liking small things that you can't fix. In the studio, we use $2k+ mics and the rooms are perfect, audio engineers are trained.īut I realized I I like the result of my $250 microphone in my room just as much, maybe even more. ![]() Both times I ended up using the recordings from my basic bedroom setup instead. Spent $800+ trying to record 2 of my songs. So, I have experimented with renting a studio 2 times now. ![]()
